Chamois’ Taniya Morris MBE to cycle 2600km across Europe solo, for children’s charity

One of our Chamois team, Taniya Morris MBE, has decided to set herself a challenge by cycling 2600km solo, self-supported from UK to Ukraine to raise money for a foundation that provides amazing support to the innocent victims of war in Ukraine – the children. Taniya will set off from Middle Wallop, Hampshire on 16th June 2024 and will be supported by Chamois, as one of her headline sponsors.

The Voices of Children Charitable Foundation was established in 2019, having evolved from the co-founders’ personal experiences of delivering humanitarian work within the Donbas region in 2014.  Their mission is that no child should be left alone with the experience of war.

Having been compelled to vastly expand their operations in 2022, their work is delivered in Ukraine and is focused on creating ongoing programs of assistance that cover targeted needs and formats. Specifically: provision of psychosocial support and rehabilitation for children and families; meeting additional educational and recreational needs of children; children’s rights advocacy; assistance with evacuation and ensuring children’s access to a safe environment in communities; and the arrangement of new permanent or temporary housing for IDPs and meeting their basic needs.

After speaking directly to the  Voices of Children‘s co-founder and their partnerships manager, Taniya was inspired to support the foundation, being particularly impressed by their dedication, professionalism, and transparency.

Taniya is no stranger to long-distance cycle challenges, having previously cycled with her husband from Vancouver to Mexico, and Calais to Brindisi.  This challenge will be entirely different however, as she will be cycling solo and will allow herself little time to stop to enjoy the views.  Taniya aims to cycle a minimum of 100km a day to cover the 2600km through UK, Holland, Germany, and Poland to the Ukrainian border at Chelm in under a month.  Whilst she will be cycling solo and self-supported, her husband, Clive, will be ‘shadowing’ the route, planning to only meet up on rest days, where he can assist with bike maintenance and clothes washing!

Taniya Morris MBE, Principal Consultant at Chamois said: “I’m incredibly proud to be able to do this challenge in support of Voices of Children, also reminding myself on a daily basis how privileged I am to be living in such safe and happy surroundings. The support that Chamois is providing is hugely welcome and I have to give a huge thanks to CEO Jamie Clarke for being behind this mad little adventure.”

Jamie Clarke, CEO at Chamois said: “It’s an honour for Chamois to be supporting Taniya as one of her headline sponsors on this adventure, to benefit an important children’s charity, Voices of Children. Taniya is no stranger to long distance adventure cycling but this time she’ll be riding solo and primarily unsupported, so it’ll be a very different challenge for her. Lifestyle, sport and adventure is at the heart of the Chamois company ethos, so this aligns perfectly, and I wish Taniya the very best of luck. If anyone or any company can support Taniya by making a donation, the link to her JustGiving page is on our website. All support is very gratefully received, thank you.”
