Jankel, a world-leader in the design and manufacture of high-specification defence, security and NGO protection systems, was visited by Sir Peter Bottomley MP, Member of Parliament for Worthing West, on Friday 11 June 2021. The visit took place at one of Jankel’s production facilities based in Rustington, West Sussex. Sir Peter was met by Andrew Jankel, Chairman of the Jankel Group, his directors and a selection of staff. Sir Peter received a briefing on the company and its international footprint, including their numerous facilities in UK, USA and Jordan. He also visited the vehicle production line and was given the opportunity to speak to the staff working on current, unrestricted domestic and export orders.
Sir Peter Bottomley MP said “I congratulate Andrew Jankel and all of his colleagues. Despite Covid-19 restrictions, the innovation, flexibility and partnerships that they have developed have led not only to increased customer satisfaction but also to an impressive increase in turnover during the pandemic. I have been pleased to learn that Jankel is so well-known across the western world for successfully protecting people in the defence and security sectors with their range of products and services. Their vehicles are designed and built in the UK, involving around 5000+ indirect jobs across the total UK supply chain and over 120 direct jobs here in the Sussex area”. He added: “It’s highly impressive to see a relatively small UK company doing so well and to be creating and sustaining skilled jobs in these difficult times”.
Andrew Jankel, Chairman of the Jankel Group said: “We’re all very pleased to welcome Sir Peter as he visits Jankel today. We’re exceedingly proud of what has been achieved in recent years having delivered an increase in annual revenue in the last 18 months, in spite of covid restrictions. I’ve very much enjoyed showing Sir Peter around our production facility from where we are delivering UK defence projects as well as actively exporting multiple defence contracts to Europe, post-BREXIT. We are one of a very few small to medium (SME) UK defence focused companies left that is winning global vehicle contracts; designed, developed, built and supported in Britain”. He added: “As I have explained to Sir Peter throughout the day, we are focused on innovative, fast and cost effective product development using, training and sustaining traditional skills that are becoming harder to find in the UK. It’s been an absolute pleasure hosting Sir Peter and I thank him for taking the time to see us”.
